Emigrant Gap

Alta, CA 95701

Emigrant Gap is a mountain pass located about 10 miles northwest of Alta, California. The pass served the early emigrants to California and later the ranscontinental railroad. Highway construction of I-80 have all but obliterated any traces of the pass. The Nyack Lodge, which overlooked the pass, is now a rest area.

There is also a town with the same name located immediately southwest of the actual mountain pass.
