Palisade Canyon

The canyon is the site of a major train disaster. On August 12, 1939, the City of San Francisco derailed while crossing a bridge. Twenty-four people died and 121 others were injured.

The ghost town of Palisade overlooks the canyon. As a teen, I & friends used to hide out in the old town & shoot at the train as it winded thru the canyon (c.1969-1970).
