Western Eastbound Terminus of Route 401939 to 1970Bryant and 10th StreetsSan Francisco, CA 94103 Unlike Atlantic City, where Route 40 comes within a few hundred feet of reaching the Atlantic Ocean, Route 40's western termini simply crosses the San Francisco Bay and ends where it intersected 10th Street (U.S. Route 101). In fact this was the western terminus for U.S. Route 50 as well. Strange as it may seem at first, there are actually two western termini for Route 40. Because Bryant Street is one-way, this location is for eastbound travelers. For westbounders, the intersection of Harrison and 10th Streets serves as the terminus. This point is also the southernmost point on Route 40!
