Western Westbound Terminus of Route 40

San Francisco, CA 94103Unlike Atlantic City, where Route 40 comes within a few hundred feet of reaching the Atlantic Ocean, Route 40's western termini simply crosses the San Francisco Bay and ends where it intersected 10th Street (U.S. Route 101). In fact this was the western terminus for U.S. Route 50 as well.
Strange as it may seem at first, there are actually two western termini for Route 40. Because Harrison Street is one-way, this location is for westbound travelers. For eastbounders, the intersection of Bryant and 10th Streets serves as the terminus.
