Western Terminus of Route 401970 to ????Utah-Nevada State LineWendover, UT 84083 When Interstate 80 was constructed in the 1960s and 1970s, the states through which it ran began decommissioning sections of Route 40, inching its western terminus eastward, town by town. Eventually, the Utah-Nevada state line became the highway's western terminus - and it remained so for many years. Ultimately, the State of Utah decided to decommission all of Route 4o where it ran parallel or concurrent with I-80. That decision moved the western terminus to Silver Creek Junction, east of Salt Lake City.
