This is Route 40's second crossing of the Mason-Dixon Line. Also at this point the trace of Braddock's Roads cuts across the scene. Maryland is in the foreground and the state line is at the point where the road curves to the left and disappears behind the trees. The area is significantly more wooded than it was sixty years ago.
