George Stewart Photo Location

George Stewart U.S. 40 Photograph - Embarras River

U.S. Route 40
Greenup, IL 62428

It isn't clear if Stewart shot this photo on the old or newer alignment of the highway. The newer alignment (probably the correct location) has a crossing sign, however, is not scenic. The name Embarras derives from French for sand bars. The older alignment sports a newly constructed covered bridge and makes for a better photo.

I need to get this photo and upload it to the site.

By the way, it is pronounced EMM-bra. If you pronounce it like 'embarrass' the locals will chuckle.
