Steamboat Springs, CO 80487I'm not certain about this old motel's location. I've searched numerous records and can find no record that pinpoints it location. One thing is certain - that the motel is no longer in business. The most logical guess is that the motel has been replaced by one or more condominiums.
An old postcard notes that the motel was 10 miles west of Steamboat Springs on Route 40. The name suggests a vantage point overlooking the Yampa Valley. This spot coincides with those two criteria. Moreover, there are numerous condominiums above and below the current highway.
Speaking of the highway, almost all of the original alignment of Route 40 between Muddy Pass and the floor of the Yampa Valley has been replaced with a newer road bed. If you look at aerial photographs it is easy to locate the old right of way meandering through the area.
