Several of us came up from a scout camp at Sawmill lake in the late 50's. Had been camping two weeks, so were quite ratty looking. Stopped at the lodge to get something to eat - went to the front door and whoever met us at the door paused, then sent us around to the back door to the kitchen where they fed us. Very nice for a bunch of tired, wet, dirty scouts at a rather fancy place. |

i WAS TRAVELING EASTBOUND ON I-80 AND STOPPED AT THE SHELL STATION AT THE TOP OF EMIGRANT GAP. I WAS TOLD THE THE OLD NYACK LODGE WAS THE BUILDING THAT HOUSED THE GIFT STORE AND THE OLD NYACK LODGE WAS THE BUILDING ABOVE. IT WAS MOVED THERE WHEN I-80 WAS BEING BUILT. THE ACTUAL OLD SPOT WHERE THE NYACK LODGE WAS IS NOW A REST AREA FOR THE WEST-BOUD I-80 |
