Gas Station

Oasis Cafe and Hotel (closed)

State Route 233
Oasis, NV 89835

This one stop shop had it all. You could buy gas, supplies, eat a meal and even spend the night!

I had the good fortune to be able to experience the Oasis firsthand in the mid 1990s. I had left Salt Lake City and was driving west to San Francisco. I stopped here to buy some gas and when I went inside to pay, the woman behind the counter pleaded with me to stay and have breakfast. Although I had already eaten, her sales pitch was convincing. I parked myself in a booth next to some local ranchers and proceeded to enjoy one of the best cafe meals I had ever had.

Two years later I made a point of returning to the Oasis but when I pulled off the highway I discovered the place was closed. I suppose there just weren't enough customers to keep this oasis (it did live up to its name) in business.
