Carter's Tavern (site)Formerly/Also Known As Strawn's TavernNational RoadWheeling, WV 26003 From Searight's The Old Pike (1894): A short distance west from widow Goodings, Samuel Carter kept a tavern as early as 1830. It was a brick house on the south side of the road, a resort for pleasure seekers from Wheeling, and a well kept house. This house was subsequently kept by William Strawn.
