Bridge

Boonville Bridge (site)

Boonville, MO 65233

This bridge was constructed in 1922 and had an overall length og 2,666 feet. It was an experience driving across this old bridge. It was barely wide enough for two lanes of traffic and the open decking caused vehicle tires to swerve from side to side. It had a 15 MPH speed limit!

The bridge was razed in 1995.

When the bridge was built, it had an all wood floor and no walkway. In the 1940's the bridge had the grating floor installed and the walkway was added. I have driven over that bridge countless times - I was even passed by a semi once on it. My Grandma would go across the bridge in her '67 Mustang doing about 50 miles an hour! Talk about fun. LOL
