Madonna of the Trail - Indiana

The monument sits on the southwest corner of Glen Miller Park on U.S. Route 40 in Richmond, Indiana.

This monument was dedicated on October 28, 1928.

The inscriptions read:

West Face: MADONNA OF THE TRAIL N.S.D.A.R. MEMORIAL TO THE PIONEER MOTHERS OF THE COVERED WAGON DAYS

South Face: THE FIRST TOLL-GATE IN INDIANA STOOD NEAR THIS SITE ON THE NATIONAL ROAD

East Face: THE NATIONAL OLD TRAILS ROAD

North Face: A NATION'S HIGHWAY! ONCE A WILDERNESS TARIL OVER WHICH HARDY PIONEERS MADE THEIR PERILOUS WAY SEEKING NEW HOMES IN THE DENSE FORESTS OF THE GREAT NORTHWEST
