Dead Man's Curve - Site of Ohio's First Traffic FatalityOld National PikeNorwich, OH 43767 The downhill curve proved to be too much for a fast running stagecoach on August 20, 1835. Christopher C. Baldwin, a librarian with the American Antiquarian Society was killed, becoming the first traffic fatality in the state of Ohio. In 1925, local historian and National Road good guy Rollin Allen erected a monument to this incident.
