Johnny KawManhattan City Park11th Street and Poyntz Avenue Manhattan, KS 66502 In the 1950's a bunch of Kansasans wanted a folk hero so they invented Johnny Kaw. In 1966, at a cost of $7,000, a 30-foot concrete statue was erected of the wheat farmer responsible for just about everything that has happened to and in Kansas.
