Toad Tunnel

Pole Line Road
Davis, CA 95618

daviswiki.org/Toad_Tunnel

As a result of too many squished hoppers, the folks in Davis decided to give the frog population a safer way to cross a busy road. (The tunnel is actually for frogs, but toad tunnel makes for better alliteration.) At considerable expense ($14,000), a tunnel was built under the highway. Unfortunately, no one told the frogs to take this new amphibious highway alignment and the frogs continue to get flattened. Studies have been done and to date no one has ever documented a frog using the froggy freeway. There must be something in the water out in Davis for there is also a 'tunnel of love' created for amorous salamanders.
