Having grown up in Baltimore, it seemed as if every waitress in every restaurant called their customers 'hon' -- short for honey. A few years back, someone added 'Hon' to a welcome sign south of Baltimore so that it read, 'Welcome to Baltimore, Hon.' The city officials went ballistic and had the sign painted over. From time to time someone 'corrects' the sign adding that charming addition. It's too bad the city official don't leave the 'Hon' on the sign because this one word described Baltimore's personality to a T - friendly, yet sassy.

I'm glad to see a Baltimore diner has picked up on the quintessential Balmer word. And waitresses in giant beehive hairdos ain't too shabby either!
