Gas Station

Slim Olson's Gas Station and Cafe (site)

West Idaho Street
Elko, NV 89801

Olson ran this gas station and cafe at a location one mile west of Elko. There is an abandoned restaurant at this location. It could at one time have been a gas station as well. Just a wild guess that this location is the former Slim Olson's.

My parents bought this property in 1947, and operated it as a restaurant, service station and motel. We lived in the motel, two rooms, and successfully operated the restaurant and service station for one year, under name Mr & Mrs Homer Wyatt. After one year we moved to Montana. In 1957 I passed thru town and saw it as "Slim Olson's, World Largest Truck Stop" elwyatt@gmail.com
