Camp WoodBerm HighwayEast Alton, IL 62024 The Lewis and Clark Corps of Discovery camped at this location between December 1803 and May 14, 1804 prior to their exploration of the American west. At that time, the confluence of the Missouri River was opposite of these banks. Today, the Missouri meets the Mississippi River about two miles downstream.?
