This lodge caught fire in the 1950s, after the adjacent trailer park caught fire. The fire was caused when propane tanks exploded. |

I was the Manager and Maintenance at the 49er for 12 years. The owners decided to sell the property and the new owners had it for a very short time, then sold it to a car dealer, who in turn, bull dozed everything and turned it into a parking lot for new cars.Highway 49 history gone again. |

Looking at the post card photo, the only changes were to the units on the left side.A 2 story building was built that had kitchens, trees were added around the grass area,a swiming pool was added and a new office was built to the right of the back units. |

My dad, Bill Stadelman and uncle, Clayton (Doc) Robinson were the original builders & owners of the 49er Motor Lodge. They made the concrete blocks on site and lived on site, and my uncle used to land his air plane on Auburn Blvd.
My husband was Sac Cty Building Inspector & collected 1 of the original concrete blocks while it was being torn down.
I would love to hear from anyone who has any information or worked at the motel.
